Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven - President-elect · Board member · Pro bono website developer.
I serve as president-elect and a board member, take part in the club's service work, and built its official website at no cost.
My involvement
I serve on the board of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven as president-elect. I take part in club planning, fundraising, weekly meetings, and hands-on community projects while preparing to lead the club during my presidential term.
I also designed and developed the club's official website pro bono. It gives the public one place to find the club's projects, scholarships, calendar, announcements, membership information, and ways to donate or get involved. I continue to support the site as the club's developer.
About the club
Downtown Rotary was chartered on March 13, 2003 as Rotary Club 61484 in District 7360. It is a small local service club whose members combine volunteer work, fundraising, and fellowship. The club meets on Tuesday evenings at the Poorman Gallery in Lock Haven.
The club's recurring work includes Flags of Honor in Triangle Park, Angel Lights on September 11, Little Red Schoolhouse Libraries, scholarships for Central Mountain High School seniors, holiday gift bags for veterans, the Four-Way Test Speech Contest, and Valentine's Day goody trays for first responders and service organizations.
Local impact
During the 2023-2024 Rotary year, the club awarded $5,500 in scholarships and contributed about $5,000 to other causes. Over the years it has supported local food programs, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Haven Cupboard, the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank, Roads to Peace, Salvation Army, ShelterBox, polio eradication, and other community needs.
Flags of Honor is the club's largest annual fundraiser. The 2026 display placed 188 sponsored flags in Triangle Park, with proceeds supporting senior scholarships and local service work.
