I co-founded and developed a free countywide platform that helps residents find ways to serve and gives local organizations practical tools to recruit and manage volunteers.
Why we built it
I co-founded Volunteer Clinton County with Rayne Burgin because local opportunities were spread across social posts, flyers, individual websites, and word of mouth. We wanted one dependable place where a resident could see who needs help and where an organization could reach people ready to show up.
I developed the platform and continue to maintain it. The work covers the public website as well as the database, organization accounts, approval workflows, messaging, sign-ups, service-hour records, maps, accessibility information, and the tools behind each listing.
What residents can do
Residents can browse volunteer opportunities, community events, donation needs, collection drives, and open board or committee seats. Search tools narrow results by cause, town, schedule, age fit, accessibility, and whether an opportunity works well for students, families, groups, or seniors.
No account is required to browse or contact an organization. People who create an account can save listings, track commitments, log hours for verification, follow organizations, receive alerts, keep a private calendar feed, and export a record of their service.
Tools for organizations
Eligible nonprofits, schools, libraries, churches, emergency-service groups, civic groups, and community programs can register for free. Each organization is reviewed before it can publish listings, which helps keep the directory local and trustworthy.
Approved organizations can post opportunities, events, board openings, donation needs, recurring shifts, and group projects. Their dashboards include volunteer communication, hour verification, event shifts and check-in, waitlists, roster tools, team permissions, reports, flyers, and QR codes.
Built for Clinton County
The directory covers every borough and township in Clinton County, including Lock Haven, Mill Hall, Renovo, Avis, Flemington, Beech Creek, Lamar, Loganton, and rural communities. It is free to search and free for approved organizations to use, with no paid placement or premium tier.
